Plan Your Comedy Night Out at Capital One Hall

September 8, 2023

Planning a night out to see a comedian is always fun, especially if it involves heading to your favorite local performing arts center in Tysons.  Capital One Hall’s experts share what to expect at your first (or 50th) comedy performance!

What to expect for first-time visitors: first, you’ll want to arrive as close to the door time as possible.  Doors open an hour before the show starts, and early arrival means getting parked and inside the venue before the crowd. For a vehicle-free experience, Capital One Hall is just steps away from the McLean Metro stop on the Silver Line. After arrival, you’ll head through venue security.  Please be sure to leave any pre-packaged food and drinks in your vehicle. Volunteer ushers will scan your tickets, and they are always happy to answer any questions about the night’s performance, and help navigate you to your seats.  Arriving early is very important for comedy shows, as comedians tend to start right on time.  Late arriving patrons may not be able to get to their seats immediately after the show has started.  View more helpful information about attending shows at capitalonehall.com/FAQ

Be sure to look for signage regarding cell phone usage before entering the main theater.  Comedians often request that phones remain off during their performances as videos, flash photography or ringers/alarms can be distracting to the comedian and other patrons during the set.  You may even encounter a performer who requests that phones be locked away during performances—be sure to follow all instructions regarding audience expectations that are shared pre-show via email, or they can be found on the website as well.

Capital One Hall staff picks for pre-show snacks include enjoying small bites and exclusive offerings from our Capital One Center neighbor, Wegmans, available for purchase at the venue’s bars.  We suggest pairing their yummy dessert options (the cookies are a favorite!) or a nostalgic candy bar with a beverage of your choice. Our locally sourced beverage partners include Barboursville Vineyards, Early Mountain Vineyards, Ceremony Coffee and Capital One Center favorite, Starr Hill Brewery.

If you are celebrating a special occasion with friends, we suggest our branded Capital One Hall champagne flutes for a toast in the beautiful Atrium! Or treat your guests to a carafe of wine which is also available for purchase any of the three Capital One Hall Bars.

Capital One Hall is proud to be part of the Capital One Center Experience.  Did you know that the roof of our 1,500 seat performing arts center is home to The Perch, a 2.5 acre sky park?! On the 11th floor, you can find The Watermark Hotel and their award winning restaurant Wren, Perch Putt–an 18-hole mini golf course–and Starr Hill Brewery, a biergarten with live music five nights a week.  When you are up on The Perch pre or post show, keep an eye out for the large oak barrels used for tables on the lawn.  Those oak barrels are sourced from Capital One Hall wine partner, Barboursville Vineyard. You can also find Starr Hill beers for sale at the bars of Capital One Hall. Don’t forget to check out the exciting Seat to Suite Program where you can take advantage of a special room rate at The Watermark Hotel.
