Over 15,000 guests attended the one year anniversary celebration of The Perch during Perchfest: Capital One Center’s 3-day fall festival benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington DC. The public enjoyed elevated mini golf at Perch Putt, local musicians at Starr Hill Biergarten’s amphitheater stage, face painting, lawn games, delicious treats from Sisters Thai – one of the new retailers coming to Capital One Center — and Wolf Trap Animal Rescue’s adoptable puppies. New Perchfest activities included DC Bocce’s bocce tournaments, inflatable slides, NFL watch parties, specialty treats from community vendors, and pie eating contests sponsored by Wegmans. Capital One Hall and The Watermark Hotel elevated the event with a pop-up box office, DJ set and additional lawn games.
Musical acts included local bands Pebble to Pearl, Nowhere Men, Sidemen Band, Advanced Party Solutions, The Dad Guys, The Summer of George, Lil’ Maceo and The Wilson Springs Hotel.
“Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Washington DC was proud to be the charity partner with Capital One Center on this Perchfest anniversary celebration. It was a perfect weekend full of sharing our mission of easing the hardship of children’s illness on families and thanking attendees who gave gifts of hope and health to RMHCDC. Capital One Center is truly a wonderful partner helping to make our community shine!” - Sarah Quillen, VP of Development and Marketing for RMHCDC.
Dr. Burton with Wolf Trap Animal Rescue lamented “It’s always so great to partner with local businesses to bring awareness of the importance of animal rescue. The Perch at Capital One for Perchfest provides an excellent opportunity for WTAR to interact with members of the community as well as feature our adoptable pups!”
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the festivities! Didn’t make it to Perchfest? Starr Hill has live music every Wednesday - Sunday evening, so it feels like Perchfest every time you visit! Check out their schedule here.

About Wolf Trap Animal Rescue
Founded in 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the primary mission to operate a life-saving animal rescue transport and adoption program. These transports operate weekly, where hundreds of homeless puppies and kittens are relocated from Mississippi to awaiting foster homes in Northern Virginia. Relocating these pets helps to prevent shelters from overcrowding and unnecessary euthanasia—providing the only hope for these pets to find a home. Once transported into WTAR’s foster program in Northern Virginia, rescued pets are provided all the necessary veterinary care and training they need until they find their perfect forever home through WTAR’s adoption program. Since 2015, Wolf Trap Animal Rescue has rescued and adopted nearly 10,000 homeless pets in need.
