Steps away from the McLean Metro Station, Capital One Center is developing a mixed-use entertainment epicenter -- accessible for everyone -- which will offer over 6m sq. ft of walkable development in Tysons East. Once complete, this destination will include a world class performing arts center, a new hotel, 250,000 sq. feet of retail -- and, yes, a 2.5 acre skypark, The Perch.
When The Perch opens to the community in Summer 2021, this will become the new Tysons hot spot. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views from a Biergarten along with an outdoor Amphitheater, dog park, games plaza, great lawn, interactive public art displays, and pop-up food truck experience. Fun fact: Capital One Center will actually crane up three food trucks to make this happen! In the middle of the bustling Tysons East neighborhood, visitors can center themselves in nature within an urban oasis. The Perch’s extensive programming will offer our community cultural events, a center stage for local artists, and a new way to experience Tysons. This will be a place where culture and the arts come together, and Capital One Center anticipates hosting a wide range of events open to the public such as musical acts, speaker series, fitness classes and festivals.
Public art is central to The Perch and Capital One Center. Through a partnership with ARTSFairfax, Capital One Center commissioned local artist Nick Zimbro to design pop-up murals through the campus for a whimsical wayfinding experience. In collaboration with ARTSFairfax, local musicians, dancers and theatrical performers will be able to perform at The Perch and Capital One Hall -- a 1,600 seat performing arts center and 300 seat black box theater, with an estimated 200 shows annually.
The Perch and Capital One Hall will open in 2021. Follow the evolution: @CapitalOneCenter on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn
