Zain’s Basketball Court Wish Project

Capital One Center was proud to partner with Make a Wish Mid-Atlantic, Cushman & Wakefield, Whiting-Turner and Monumental Sports to support a Basketball Court Wish Request from 6-year-old wish kid Zain from Lorton, Virginia.  For Zain, basketball isn’t just a sport; it’s a lifestyle that always takes center court.

As every big sports fan does, Zain eats, sleeps, and breathes basketball. He loves playing basketball videogames, shooting hoops with his family, and running with his friends. Through his battle with leukemia, his energetic spirit is still able to shine through when doing his favorite activity, practicing his basketball moves in the basement. Although, he dreamed of having more space to do it in, so Zain knew exactly what he wanted when he met with Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic. He wished to have a basketball court in his backyard, so the Mid-Atlantic team got the ball rolling.  

Zain was so excited to see his new yard setup! On his shiny new court, complete with two nets, he can see himself dribbling away and making plays like a pro, thanks to his generous team of sponsors Cushman & Wakefield, Whiting-Turner, Monumental Sports, and Capital One Center who made his court possible.   

Now Zain can enjoy playing basketball in the fresh air, with tons of space for all his loved ones to join him. With complete access to pursue his passion, Zain will have the joy and strength to make it through his toughest moments, which is the best slam dunk there is.
