Virginia’s second-oldest craft brewery, Starr Hill, recently opened a unique urban biergarten in the sky atop the Capital One Center, a 6-million-square-foot mixed-use development at Capital One’s global headquarters in Tysons.

The Starr Hill Biergarten is the brewery’s first all-outdoor bar in Northern Virginia. It features over 20 of its beers on tap, a full bar, wine, seltzer, and cider, as well as a biergarten-themed menu with food like fries, red-skin potato salad, giant pretzel with Jomo Lager cheese sauce, bratwursts, burgers, and more.

Starr Hill will also manage the live entertainment at The Perch’s adjacent amphitheater. According to Starr Hill’s website, this month’s lineup includes singer-songwriter JJ Rupp, The Blue Ridge Bards featuring the Matthew O’Donnell Duo, and Vinny DeRenzis.

“Capital One Center is thrilled to welcome one of the most-recognized breweries in Virginia, Starr Hill, to The Perch,” Jonathan Griffith, managing director of the Capital One Center said in a press release. “Starr Hill’s brand and reputation within the craft beer community, as well as their experience in the live music scene, will further establish The Perch as a unique destination for Tysons and the Greater Washington region.”

Aside from the biergarten and amphitheater, The Perch will have food trucks, a games plaza, sculpture garden, dog park, and soon a rotating schedule of outdoor activities like yoga. The Perch sits atop Capital One Hall, a corporate and performing arts center slated to open the first week of October.

In total, the Capital One Center will have over 250,000 square feet of retail space, which currently includes The Perch, Wegmans, Starbucks, and Nothing In Between Studio, a boutique offering manicures, pedicures, and massages.
